Standing seam metal roof
Snap-lock, mechanically seamed and nail strip panels. The fasteners sit hidden beneath the raised seams, so the roof shows only clean vertical lines.

Colorado metal roofing contractors with verified credentials
If you are weighing metal roofing in Denver, you have likely seen what one hail season can do to a roof. Front Range weather adds intense sun, fast temperature swings and freeze-thaw to the hail and snow. Each one shows up on a metal roof in its own way, and knowing how helps you choose the right system.
Hail dents you can see
Hail can leave dents in metal panels that show from the street, even when the panels keep water out.
Snow that lets go at once
Pitched metal roofs have slippery surfaces. Built-up snow and ice can slide off suddenly onto walkways, decks, cars and gutters below the eaves.
Sun and temperature swings
High-altitude sun ages exposed sealants, coatings and flashings faster, and metal expands and contracts with every temperature swing.
Freeze-thaw at the details
Water that gets into small openings at seams, coatings and flashing details freezes, expands and widens the gap each winter.
The wrong system for the house
A profile chosen for the sale rather than the home can clash with its style or need more upkeep than you planned for.
Shortcuts over old shingles
Laying metal over an existing shingle roof skips the tear-off, but it changes how the panels take hail and leaves the deck underneath unseen.
It’s a big roof with lots of angles. Apex did an amazing job … Over all I would say it is an easy 5 star job.
I personally was very happy with Apex from start to finish. … The contract was fulfilled over and above my expectations. The crews were, in my opinion, professional.
I own an insurance agency and have been using Apex Roofing for several years. … The owner Mike and my personal contact Brad are very hands-on and have always been available to my clients and myself with any questions or concerns.
Apex Roofing installs metal roofing for homeowners in Denver and across the Front Range as part of our residential roofing services. Every project starts with a free inspection of the whole exterior, not only the roof. We install four metal systems.
Snap-lock, mechanically seamed and nail strip panels. The fasteners sit hidden beneath the raised seams, so the roof shows only clean vertical lines.
Corrugated and R-panel profiles. The fasteners go through the face of each panel, so they stay visible and become part of every maintenance check.
Steel panels formed in shake, slate and tile profiles, for a traditional look on a metal roof.
Metal formed in slate, tile, shake and shingle profiles, for a roofline that reads like a conventional roof.

On every metal roof, your project manager photographs each slope before work starts, with date-, time- and GPS-stamped photos you can open as a link. Our team handles permits, materials and scheduling. The job closes with city inspections, permits closed and a Certificate of Completion.
We will tell you when metal is the wrong choice for your house. It usually is not the right call when:
The right metal roof for your home depends mostly on the look you want and the upkeep you will accept. Standing seam gives clean lines with hidden fasteners. Stone-coated steel and metal shingles keep a shake, slate or tile look. Exposed fastener panels leave their fasteners on the surface, where they need regular checks.
One check comes before the look. If your home is in an HOA, find out whether the profile needs approval before you commit. Your free inspection then confirms the deck and roof details for the system you prefer.
| System | The look it gives | Suits a home where | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standing seam (snap-lock, mechanically seamed, nail strip) | Clean vertical lines, fasteners hidden under the seams | The house has simple, modern lines | Concealed fasteners leave fewer exposed points to check |
| Exposed fastener (corrugated, R-panel) | Ribbed or wavy panels with visible fasteners | A ribbed or rustic panel look suits the house | Fasteners go through the panel face and need regular checks |
| Stone-coated steel | Steel shaped like shake, slate or tile | The street or HOA expects a traditional roof | Comes in three profiles: shake, slate and tile |
| Metal shingles | Smaller units that read like a conventional roof | You want metal without changing the home's style | Comes in four profiles: slate, tile, shake and shingle |

What we do
What to check with your insurer
The Colorado Division of Insurance's hail tips suggest you:
See how our insurance claims process works
This is general information, not insurance or legal advice. Your insurer decides coverage under the terms of your policy.
Two metal roofs rarely cost the same, so we do not publish prices. These are the factors that move a quote, and your free inspection ends in a written scope for your own roof.
System and profile
Materials are billed at supplier prices plus the contractor's overhead and profit, so the system and profile you choose shape the materials line.
Roof size and crew
Larger or more complex roofs take more time on site and can need a second technician for material handling and safety.
Decking and hidden conditions
Rotted decking or wet insulation found once the old roof comes off adds labor and materials. We ask for approval before going past the agreed scope.
Access to the roof
Restricted access, missing HOA or permit approvals and unsafe weather all cost time, and time is part of the bill.
Distance from the metro
Homes far outside the metro can add mileage, and extra supplier trips add cost.
Scheduling ahead
Across the industry, priority and weekend work costs noticeably more than work booked ahead, so planning early helps.

Work that often comes before or alongside a new metal roof:
Coverage depends on your policy's wording, and your insurer makes the decision. Hail can dent metal panels without causing a leak, so ask your agent before a storm whether your policy pays for dents that do not cause leaks. Getting that answer in writing now prevents a surprise after the next hailstorm.
Sometimes, and the condition of the existing roof decides it. In a 2013 IBHS hail demonstration, standing seam laid over shingles dented larger and deeper than panels installed directly on a plywood deck. Going over shingles also hides the deck from inspection. Our guide to installing metal over existing shingles explains the trade-offs.
No. Class 4 is the highest of four impact classes under UL 2218, a test that drops steel balls on new, unweathered roofing samples. The rating belongs to a specific product that passed the test, not to metal in general, and the test does not measure weathering or aging. Ask for the product's own documentation.
It may, but no discount is automatic. When a roof has to be replaced after hail, the Colorado Division of Insurance suggests asking your insurer or agent what premium discounts or future deductible savings are available for hail resistant material. Ask before you choose a product, and keep its documentation for your insurer.
Often, where sliding snow could land on people or property. The Metal Construction Association calls snow retention a life-safety issue on slippery pitched roofs. Its technical bulletin advises protecting the whole eave line rather than spots over doorways, with mechanically attached systems engineered for the specific roof.
Yes. A periodic check looks at panels, seams, fasteners, sealants and flashings for corrosion, lifted components and storm damage, and clears debris from valleys and gutters. Apex Roofing's preventive maintenance program documents each visit with photos, so you can compare conditions over time and plan repairs before they grow.
Book a free inspection, and your project manager will photograph your roof and tell you honestly whether metal is the right call. If a repair or a different roof suits you better, you will hear that too.
