Trusted & Certified Roofing Company in Colorado
Is Apex Roofing a GAF certified roofing contractor?
Yes. Apex Roofing is a GAF Certified™ Roofing Contractor for 2026, GAF ID 1005038. We serve homes and buildings across the Colorado Front Range from offices in Englewood, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. You can confirm that status with GAF directly, without taking our word for it.
GAF ID 1005038
Apex Roofing is a Denver roofing company serving Colorado since 2010, and every credential it holds comes with an ID or a public listing you can check. Each one covers something specific, from shingle and tile installation to low-slope systems and trade association membership. Learn more about Apex Roofing, including who runs the company and where its offices are.
What does GAF Certified mean, and what does it not mean?
GAF Certified™ means GAF has enrolled a contractor in its certification program and authorizes it to offer the GAF System Plus® Limited Warranty on qualifying GAF roofing systems. It does not make the contractor part of GAF, and it is not a guarantee of any single roof.
What does GAF require of a certified contractor?
GAF states that contractors it certifies must be insured, and licensed in the states where they operate if a license is required there. That requirement comes from GAF guidance on choosing a certified contractor. Colorado has no statewide roofing license, so the license check happens with your city or county.
Which GAF warranty can a GAF Certified contractor offer?
GAF ranks its residential certification levels. At the GAF Certified™ level, a contractor can offer one of the enhanced GAF warranties, the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty, on qualifying GAF roofing systems.
If you are planning a roof replacement, ask which GAF products qualify before you sign. GAF sets the coverage, terms and eligibility, so read GAF residential warranties before you rely on one.
What does GAF Certified not promise?
Contractors in GAF certification programs are not employees or agents of GAF, and GAF does not supervise their work. The System Plus authorization applies only to qualifying GAF roofing systems, not to roofs built with other manufacturers’ products. The certification is not a rating of any one job.
Contractors enrolled in GAF certification programs are not employees or agents of GAF, and GAF does not control or otherwise supervise these independent businesses. Contractors may receive benefits, such as loyalty rewards points and discounts on marketing tools from GAF for participating in the program.

Credentials you can check, and a roof inspection you can see
How do you verify a roofer’s credentials yourself?
Check each credential at its source: the program’s own directory, the association’s member list and the Better Business Bureau. Then confirm the local license with your city or county, and ask for a certificate of insurance.
- Look up the business in the GAF contractor directory and check for GAF ID 1005038.
- Check the FORTIFIED provider directory for IBHS ID 010207, then use each manufacturer’s contractor locator with the IDs Apex Roofing publishes.
- Read the business’s Better Business Bureau profile for its accreditation status and complaint history.
- Confirm the local license. Colorado has no statewide roofing license, according to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. Ask for the license number in your city or county and confirm it with that building department. In Denver, check it through City and County of Denver contractor licensing.
- Ask the roofer for a certificate of insurance. Check that it lists general liability and workers’ compensation coverage and that the policy dates cover your job.
Certification, warranty and insurance: what is the difference?
A certification says what a contractor is trained or authorized to do. A warranty says what is covered after the job, and insurance covers people and property while the work happens. Each comes from a different issuer, so check each one on its own.
| Term | Who issues it | What it tells you | What Apex Roofing holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer certification | The manufacturer or standards body | The contractor met the program’s requirements and may offer what the program allows. | Eight manufacturer and standards credentials, each with an ID or listing. |
| Manufacturer warranty | The manufacturer | What the manufacturer covers on its products or system, under its own terms. | Authorized to offer the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty and the enhanced Malarkey Pro warranty on qualifying systems. |
| Contractor labor warranty | The contractor | The contractor’s own promise on its workmanship. | 5-year labor warranty on new roofs. |
| Insurance | The contractor’s insurers | Coverage for injuries, damage and liability connected to the work. | General liability (including completed operations), workers’ compensation, commercial auto and cyber liability. |
Apex Roofing’s 5-year labor warranty on new roofs is Apex Roofing’s own promise on its workmanship. It is separate from any manufacturer warranty, which the manufacturer sets under its own terms.
Which commercial and low-slope credentials does Apex Roofing hold?
For flat and low-slope roofs, Apex Roofing is a Licensed GenFlex applicator for EPDM and thermoplastic roofing, in good standing. The license covers GenFlex EPDM, TPO and PVC systems.
The GenFlex license does not cover roof coatings. Apex Roofing installs EPDM, TPO, PVC and modified bitumen systems, plus silicone and acrylic coatings, as part of its commercial roofing services in Colorado.
What do customers say about working with Apex Roofing?
Verified Google Reviews-
Curt Henderson insurance agent, Google review Michael Dye the owner worked directly with the insurance adjuster to get a few things added that were forgotten in the original paperwork from the insurance company. Douglas County apparently has a few building code items that must be included that other counties do not require.
-
Debbie Brundage insurance agency owner, Google review I own an insurance agency and have been using Apex Roofing for several years. … The owner Mike and my personal contact Brad are very hands-on and have always been available to my clients and myself with any questions or concerns.
-
Lisa Mulica HOA president, Google review I personally was very happy with Apex from start to finish. … The contract was fulfilled over and above my expectations. The crews were, in my opinion, professional.
What else do homeowners ask about roofing credentials?
Does Colorado have a state license for roofing contractors?
No. Colorado does not license roofing contractors at the state level, so licensing and roofing permits are handled by each city or county. Before you hire, ask the roofer for its license number where you live and confirm it with that building department. A manufacturer certification never replaces a local license.
What is IBHS FORTIFIED, and does it mean my roof is FORTIFIED?
No, not on its own. FORTIFIED is a roofing standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). IBHS issues a FORTIFIED designation for a specific home after reviewing its documentation, as the FORTIFIED Roof standard explains. Apex Roofing is an IBHS FORTIFIED™ Service Provider, trained to install roofs to that standard for high wind and hail.
Are Colorado Roofing Association and NRCA memberships certifications?
No. Apex Roofing is a member of the Colorado Roofing Association and the National Roofing Contractors Association, which are trade associations. Membership shows the company belongs to the state and national roofing trade groups. It is not a certification, a license or a product warranty, so check certifications with the program that issues them.
Does hiring a GAF Certified contractor get an insurance claim approved faster?
No. GAF certification is a manufacturer program and plays no part in an insurance decision. Your insurer decides what a policy covers and how a claim is paid, whichever contractor you hire. A contractor can document the damage and meet the adjuster on site, but the claim belongs to the homeowner.
